Ruby Red by Kirsten Gier Book Review

 8835379

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era!
Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon--the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.
My Rating: 5/5 stars

**MAY BE SPOILERS AHEAD**

OMG! I started this book at 9pm and stayed up to finish it at 2.30am! I was so addictive that i just could NOT stop reading. The main reason why i wanted to read this was because i saw the trailer of the film and i was super interested so i decided to start reading it on one boring Thursday night. I didn't know it would keep me up all night!

Lets's just talk about our main character Gwyneth. I found myself laughing out loud at SO many parts in the book because she was so funny and i loved that she was such a relatable and realistic fun character. That scene where she started singing the national anthem had me in FITS OF LAUGHTER!

Her relationship with Lesley was so real and reminded me of my relationship with my friends and I loved their constant Googling. The fact that Lesley had a part in the book and was not forgotten was a great thing as normally the best friend would be left behind and forgotten.

The story was SO well thought out and so interesting which surprised me since i thought it wouldn't be that good but a bit too confusing but NOPE. It made so much sense and had me clued to the page. I found Charlotte really annoying for some reason (hehe) and I am really intrigued to find out more about Paul and Lucy. OH and about Gwen's "raven powers".

Can we talk about Gideon? OHHH i was just waiting for him to pop up and i was sooo happy to read Gwen and his interactions. The real romance didn't really start till the end of the book but i bet the sequel will have more Gwideon(?) moments.

I have already got the sequel Sapphire Blue and I just know i'm going to fly through it and hopefully, it is even better than the first book. Also, i need to watch the movie as soon as possible!

My favorite Quote:
“Friends of yours, eh?" I think one of them's about to faint." Oh, my god. "That's Chloe Dale," I said without turning around  "She suffers from high oestrogen levels. I can introduce you if you like."
Gideon's smile grew wilder. "Maybe I'll take you up on that some other time. Now, come on. We still have a lot to do today." He took my arm (a loud squeal could be heard from the steps and guided me towards the limousine.”
