Angelfall (Penryn & the End of days #1) by Susan Ee

Synopsis from Goodreads:

It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

My Rating: 5/5 stars

I hadn't heard too much of this book before going into it but what i had heard was that is was a very fast paced ,action packed ,creepy but gripping story. On reading the synopsis i was extremely interested so i decided to pick it up. Let me tell you: I was not disappointed.
The plot that this book follows had me invested the whole time and i found myself staying up to try and read more. The book was fast paced and not for a moment was i bored. The world building was so intriguing and it left me wanting to know more about how and why the apocalypse happened. I loved learning about the angels and the humans.

Can we just talk about how creepy this book is? At some moments i literally felt scared and shocked and grossed out all at the same time!
  <----- literally my face

The characters are just incredible. Penryn , unlike many other YA protagonists, didn't annoy me at all. She was such a strong ,kick-ass, witty but yet caring and sweet girl. Loved her throughout the whole book.
We don't see much of Paige, Penryn's sister, but we can't help but care for her and especially after what happened in the end!
oh my,then there's Penryn's mother. I found her so creepy and insane but a part of me really liked her. Her insanity caused so many disturbing but slightly funny situations. Felt sorry for Penryn though!

Oh, I'm adding Raffe to my long list of YA boyfriends! He is serious and closed in but you know that he does care and does have emotions. I seriously can't wait to see the relationship between him and Penryn develop in the next book.
Speaking of the relationship, i'm so glad that it wasn't instalove but slowly and carefully built up. Thank you ,Susan Ee!

So in case you haven't gathered already, yes i am going to pick up the next book. I want to learn more about the angels and what's going on with the children and what the freedom fighters are going to do next and what will be next for Penryn and Raffe.

oh, forgot to add but the ending tore me apart. so many shocking truths and heartbreaking moments!
